Aug 23, Monik rated it it was ok. Povestea sa este una incredibil de simpla: Emilia reminds me a whole lot of my grandmother. Basically, the book is telling the story of her life, her childhood in the village with its hardships, how she ran and started a new life in the capital and from here on we get to picture all the changes I bought the book after looking over some reviews and after some recent talks about communism, i was not disappointed at all.


It thoroughly deserves your pennies. Ambitious, she fulfilled her dream of leaving the countryside – which only promised a constant production of dung cakes – and settling in the city.

Sint o baba comunista! As a Romanian, one would definitely recognize in this book part of their lived either present or past. Astfel se porneste un sir de amintiri, intr-o anumita ordine ce pare aleatorie la inceput, ce par sa evoce o perioada mult mai insorita in viata Romaniei, prin ochii personajului principal.
