This is, also and incidentally, why we want to be sure ZT stands on its own; if our master plan works as intended, ZT will in fact be the first point of contact these younger readers have with this universe. My issue with the book is that it is “only” a companion novel to the last book in the series.

Not the end of the world, but a bit clumsy. I did enjoy a family plot sci fi though. The Obin worshiped him, but he was killed for being a traitor to humankind and wanting to overthrow the Colonial Union. Something leapt gale at me.

She has her adopted dad’s sense of humor, after all. The book is really difficult to rate, so let me explain quickly why it is only a 2 for me. Who narrated the audiobook? The Lost Colony lived up to your consisently high level of writing acumen. Scalzi absolutely nails the teenager narration, though you’ll have to take that statement with a grain of salt seeing as how neither the author nor myself have ever been teenage girls.

After a txle pages, I was sold and completely engrossed in this character’s perception and feelings. Plot the previous book better and perhaps it would have been a bit longer, but it would have been a stronger book.

My overall impressions are that this book was a method to tie up loose ends in Last Colony, and it works well enough for that.

Much in the same way that reading Harry Potter for the first time right now wouldn’t have the same impact as when I read them as a child. The sense of humor is just so particular, so right now, just this very specific kind of snark that’s apparently preserved exactly through the centuries, as humans expand across the fabric of space.
